CHECKLIST FOR SETUP/PLAY PROBLEMS
----------------------------------
Before you assume there is something wrong with the door(s) or you
cannot get them to run on your system please check the following.
If you answer yes to any of them you are doing something wrong.
1. Nodeview:
______ - You enabled more then 5-nodelists and now your cursor
is screwed up along with part of the selections on the
Nodelist selection menu?
If you are using the screens provided with
Nodeview then you need to unzip the SCREENS.ZIP file to
a temp directory and use the LIST?.ANS and LIST?.ASC files
that match the amount of nodelists that you have configured
in your nodeview.ctl file.
Example: LIST6.ANS is used for 6-Nodelist selections
and is renamed to LIST.ANS for the program to find. We
had to do this to stay flexible for those of you making
your own custom screens..
_____ - You forgot to make sure SHARE is loaded (for Multi-node only)
Note* Share is Not needed with Windows, WIN95 or OS/2.
_____ - You did not replace your old nodeview.ctl file prior to
setting up this new version. Applicable ONLY if you are
upgrading from a previous version then 1.03
NOTE: do NOT delete your Registration data before backing
it up somewhere.
_____ - The start up batch routine does not get the drop file
INTO the door directory OR tell the door where the drop
file can be found.
_____ - You are running a fossil but forgot to configure the
appropriate CTL file to show that you are using a fossil
and at what speed you have locked the port. Use the XFossil
option in the NODEVIEW.CTL file for speeds above 38400.
----- - You have not tried to change to a different drop file format
to see if that might be the problem.
----- - You do NOT have ANSI.SYS installed.
----- - You do NOT have ALL the Nodeview files in the same directory?
----- - You are trying to use your own download protocol's- please
for simplicity download the cexzy.zip file from my BBS, see
Nodeview.doc for details.
3. OK, I have not done anything wrong based on the above. What do I
do now? If it is a door problem fill out the bugrpt.frm completely
and then package it up with any error logs, your CTL file and the
batch routine which runs the door, and transmit it to me via fido
(1:205/65) or log onto my BBS and upload it to me. Use the first 8
letters (or less) to name the package. For example LARNED.ZIP would be
the name of my compressed package containing the BUGRPT.FRM and other
required files which I might submit. Please note that I will NOT
respond to ANY inquiries or bug reports unless I get these things!
